Red and pink rose

Rose petals have long been cherished in herbal traditions for their soothing and cooling qualities. Especially during warmer months, sipping rose-infused tea can help the body feel more balanced and calm. The natural aroma alone has a calming effect on the mind, but drinking rose tea is also thought to help ease internal heat and promote a general sense of lightness and ease. It’s a lovely way to slow down and invite a moment of tranquillity into your day.

Adding honey to this blend does more than just sweeten the drink. Honey brings a soft, earthy richness that balances the sharpness of the lemon and complements the floral tones of the rose. Beyond flavour, honey is known for supporting overall wellness and helping to soothe the throat. When paired with the hydrating effects of rose and lemon, it becomes a nourishing and revitalizing addition to any self-care routine.

First, start with lots of rose petals. If you have fresh roses in the garden or know someone that does, use those! Try to avoid using store-bought roses since these are normally loaded with pesticides. If you don’t have access to fresh roses, you can buy dried ones online or in some health food stores.

Start by thoroughly washing rose petals in cold water, making sure to remove all possible dirt and bugs.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add your rose petals and turn the heat off.  Add a lid and allow the roses to steep until the water is thoroughly infused. The roses will lose a lot of their color and become semi-transparent, which is another way to know it is done.

Strain out the rose petals from the tea and add the rose tea to a glass pitcher. While this is still hot, add in the honey so it will dissolve much easier.

Next, allow this to cool slightly, in the refrigerator or by adding a little bit of ice. Once it has cooled to about room temperature, add your lemon juice. The acidic pH of the lemon will cause this drink to transform into a beautiful, bright pink.
