Ginger has been known to aid in digestion. If you’ve ever experienced the discomfort of indigestion or bloating, this simple yet powerful recipe can become your new best friend. Made with just three ingredients—thinly sliced ginger, fresh lemon juice, and pink sea salt —this natural remedy not only aids digestion but also has a variety of health benefits.
Ginger, the star of this recipe, is renowned for its digestive properties. It contains bioactive compounds like gingerol, which help stimulate the production of digestive enzymes and promote smoother digestion. Regularly incorporating ginger into your routine can alleviate nausea, reduce bloating, and even soothe an upset stomach, making it a versatile ingredient to have on hand.
When combined with lemon juice, this drink becomes a powerhouse for digestive health. Lemon juice not only adds a bright and refreshing flavor but also helps to balance stomach acids, making it a perfect companion to ginger. The sea salt enhances the body’s ability to retain water, ensuring proper hydration, which is vital for maintaining good digestion. As well as preserving and drawing out the ginger's natural moisture.
You can have one strip of ginger before or after each meal, especially big meals to kick start your body's natural digestion. This Ginger Digestion Booster is a tasty and natural way to support your digestive system and overall health.
To start, cut your ginger into very thin slices. I did this with a mandolin, but if you don’t have that you can use a sharp knife. It is important to keep the slices thin because ginger is very spicy and strong when raw, so thin slices make this much more palatable.
After that, add those to a jar, along with lemon juice. I used one big head of ginger and the juice of three lemons.
There are no strict measurements, the lemon juice needs to just cover about half the ginger.
I then added pink sea salt for some extra minerals and used muddler to combine all the ingredients and slightly tenderize the ginger.
After this it is ready to be used! Take a strip, start the day, before a big meal or if you’re feeling bloated to aid in digestion. Beware, this will light a fire in your stomach so start off with smaller pieces to make sure you can handle it!
